JOB SUMMARY

The Aviation Machinist is responsible for a broad range of machining equipment and technical expertise to produce precision aerospace components to exacting standards from a wide variety of material.

***Note: The hourly rate for this role is up to $38.90/hour plus premiums***

Duties and responsibilities

  • Machine aircraft parts and/or tooling and other parts from routine and exotic materials utilizing both conventional and CNC equipment
  • Able to program CNC equipment
  • Comprehend the specifications of a product by reviewing drawings, samples, and instructions
  • Capable of meeting all DOT, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada and customer quality requirements
  • Measure and mark materials for turning, shaping or cutting
  • Able to assist in training, directing, and supervising junior employees
  • Able to estimate and plan projects on time and on budget
  • Able to carry out in-process inspections
  • Maintaining a clean work area, and alerting their supervisor of any safety concerns
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines and principles
  • Producing quality aerospace parts in collaboration with the rest of the Machine Shop production cell
  • Working effectively both alone and in a team environment
  • Observe tools and machines to ensure that feeds are adjusted, the temperature is maintained, and issues are identified

Position Requirements

  • Possess an Inter Provincial Machinist Trades Qualification or similar trade equivalency from another recognized national, state, or provincial body
  • 5+ years’ experience a machinist
  • experience in Aerospace/Aviation is considered an asset
  • Must be able to meet all physical duties required for this role
