BENEFITS SPECIALIST

Reporting to the Director, Corporate People Services, as the Benefits Specialist, you are subject matter expert (SME) on all benefits plan arrangements/offerings for BC Ferries. This includes retirement planning, leave policies, wellness programs, and any relevant insurance policies including life insurance, health and disability insurance.

You are responsible for researching and analyzing benefit plan design and offerings, policies, and programs while regularly evaluate the needs of the workforce, plan element usage rates, and service level satisfaction ratings to inform recommendations and decisions. You will also remain current in benefits plan trends over time to ensure BC Ferries' programs remain current, legal, and competitive, and recommend administrative policy, plan and service provider changes, practices and procedures.

Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Human Resources or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
• Proven working experience as a Benefits Specialist with a minimum of 2 years in a large, unionized environment is preferred
