Intent of the process

The need is to staff two (2) indeterminate seasonal position.

A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions with various tenure within the Department of Public Services and Procurement Canada

EDUCATION
✔ A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
✔ Experience in operating and maintaining electrical or mechanical equipment
✔ Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
✔ Experience in technical trade mechanical & electrical such as, but not limited to: working on wheel bearings, gears, shafts, motors, hydraulics, limit switches and so on

INSTRUCTIONS - When responding to the screening questions, be sure you :

Ⓐ Clearly demonstrate how you meet each criteria (education and experience) by answering the online questions and provide concrete, specific examples of actions that speak directly to the experience sought.

Ⓑ Include when the example took place (month-year to month-year), background of each situation, what you did, how you did it, what your role was in the situation, and what was the outcome.

Ⓒ Focus on what you did. When referring to an experience achieved in the context of a team, set your role apart from the role(s) of others.

Ⓓ Validation of the qualifications; comments such as "refer to my attached résumé" will not be accepted and may result in your application being rejected. Information provided on your described experience should be supported by your resume.

Ⓔ Lack of DETAILS may result in your application being rejected as the Assessment Board may have insufficient information to determine whether you meet the qualifications.

ASSESSMENT: Once your application has been retained – 2nd Step

A variety of assessment tools may be used in the assessment of candidates. Also note that certain competencies may be assessed globally. This means that candidates may proceed through all the assessment steps, including the reference check phase at which time a global score will then be assigned that will indicate an overall pass / fail.

Some assessments may be conducted remotely, including teleconference or videoconference assessments.

During the application or assessment process both cheating and plagiarism are considered forms of misconduct and are not permitted. Any person found cheating, including those who help others to cheat, may be subject to removal from the selection process.

Persons are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language(s) of their choice. Applicants are asked to indicate their preferred official language(s) in their application.

Our intention is to communicate with candidates via email. Applicants who apply to this selection process must include in their application a valid email address and make sure this address is functional at all times and accepts messages from unknown users.

Depending on the number of applicants, department needs, and human resources plans, volume management strategies may be used for the purpose of managing candidate applications.

We may use various assessment tools and methods such as a take-home exam, an interview and reference checks. You must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position. Candidates may be required to meet the asset qualifications or the organizational needs.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
