Duties

The Bridge Operator will be responsible of
  • enforcing navigation regulations and operating orders
  • keeping records of bridge operation and vessel traffic
  • conducting a tour of inspection at the start of every shifts
  • drafting minor reports for accidents, incidents, complaints and delays
  • general cleaning of grounds and buildings
  • maintaining and servicing of all tools, machinery and equipment
  • maintaining surveillance of marine traffic, vehicular and pedestrian traffic related to the lift bridge

✔ A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

✔ Experience in operating and maintaining electrical or mechanical equipment

✔ Experience in technical trade mechanical & electrical such as, but not limited to: working on wheel bearings, gears, shafts, motors, hydraulics, limit switches and so on

A variety of assessment tools may be used in the assessment of candidates. Also note that certain competencies may be assessed globally. This means that candidates may proceed through all the assessment steps, including the reference check phase at which time a global score will then be assigned that will indicate an overall pass / fail.

Some assessments may be conducted remotely, including teleconference or videoconference assessments.

During the application or assessment process both cheating and plagiarism are considered forms of misconduct and are not permitted. Any person found cheating, including those who help others to cheat, may be subject to removal from the selection process.
