The Calgary Police Service (CPS) requires a highly motivated individual to provide administrative support to the Strategic Planning, Research & Analysis Section. The successful applicant will coordinate the effective use of the workspace by stewarding the various logistical requests and requirements. You will also create efficiencies for the Inspector, managers, and analytical, strategic and sworn staff members through scheduling, organizing and reviewing products created by the work areas. Primary duties include:
  • Provide superior administrative support through documenting, reviewing and editing reports, decision requests and presentations for management and staff. This includes preparing reports submitted to Calgary Police Commission (CPC), CPS Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and to the City of Calgary.
  • Develop and maintain CPS Style Guide, coach and mentor as required
  • Act as contact and liaison with Corrections Canada on matters involving data management and parolee release documentation in appropriate database.
  • Ensure accuracy of data and timely data entry as data is relied upon by frontline, investigators and analysts.
  • Coordinate the team’s schedule, manage calendars, organize meetings and support employees with time and labour requirements in various databases as required.
  • Prioritize correspondence ensuring all necessary documents are provided to the appropriate staff and maintain the office.
  • Respond to general inquiries from internal and external clients using various sources of information. Receive, screen and direct phone calls and walk-in inquiries.
Qualifications
  • A completed certificate in office or business administration and a minimum 3 years of related experience; OR a completed 2 year diploma in business or office administration or related field and a minimum of 1 year of administrative experience.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Sharepoint is required.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have previous experience supporting a dynamic multidisciplinary team in a demanding, high volume setting.
  • Previous experience working in a law enforcement or police service environment is considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong communication and customer service skills and the ability to build relationships that contribute to teamwork. Remaining calm in stressful situations while focusing on results and using time and resources effectively.
