The Manager, Anti-Racism will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Anti-Racism Strategic Roadmap into all aspects of business and service delivery by maintaining the overall racial equity vision for the program. This position will work and support the anti-racism team to ensure the adoption of the roadmap by the Leadership and all members of The Calgary Police Service (CPS). Primary duties include:
  • Lead all areas of development of a CPS anti-racism strategy and action plan that identifies resourcing, timelines, risks, change management, a process for updates and adjustments and metrics to hold CPS accountable.
  • Prepare and execute an engagement plan to understand the experiences of Indigenous and racialized employees within CPS.
  • Develop an organizational assessment to provide an understanding of CPS strengths, weaknesses and gaps with respect to anti-racism.
  • Assess CPS policies, practices and service delivery using an anti-racism lens.
  • Identify actions and create recommendations to support the anti-racism journeys of the CPS Executive, Senior leadership and membership and to address systemic racism in CPS and improve the collection of race-based data.
  • Develop a communications plan to share work and progress and leverage opportunities for learning.
Qualifications
  • A related degree and a minimum of 8 years progressively more senior roles that includes municipal leadership; OR A graduate degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience in leading community and/or public-sector service, strategic leadership, supervision of staff, policy development and community collaboration initiatives is required.
  • Specialized knowledge of and experience with equity, diversity, anti-racism and inclusion activities, coalition building and systemic change within the community context is required.
  • Demonstrated anti-racism strategic leadership, supervision of staff, organizational change management and policy development is desirable.
  • Lived experience as a member of a marginalized group or experience working with and as an ally to persons from marginalized groups is considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires analytical thinking, political acumen, change management, coaching and development, strong written and verbal communication skills, efficiency and thoroughness, focus on results, and relationship building. The ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a team oriented environment with time sensitive deadlines.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

Compensation: Level F $89,632 - 137,281 per annum
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
