Camp Hermosa is seeking a passionate, faith-driven person to fulfill the role of Camp Manager.
This full-time, year-round, salaried position oversees camp operations, and also provides leadership and direction on the camp’s ministry and growth.
The ideal candidate is a committed Christian with demonstrated leadership experience, whose values align with Camp Hermosa’s slogan, “ You Belong Here”. This position requires professionalism, discretion, skilled communication, resourcefulness, people management, and independence. The ideal candidate should be comfortable both operating on a macro-level (i.e. developing a multi-year growth plan in conjunction with the Board of Directors) as well as on a micro-level (i.e. providing support to summer staff on a day-to-day basis).
The incoming Camp Manager’s immediate priorities will be to develop relationships with the Board of Directors, key members of summer staff, and other stakeholders. In consultation with these groups, the Camp Manager will begin to develop a vision for Camp Hermosa’s growth and post-pandemic recovery. The Camp Manager should also be prepared to devote some time initially to understanding camp processes and protocols.
The Camp Manager will report to the Board of Directors on a regular basis, including Board meetings and through submission of a year-end annual report. The Camp Manager must be available to reside at camp for several months a year, including during the summer camping season, and must be available for consultation and supervision during and outside of regular office hours. This position has flexibility for remote work during the year, but requires some travel across Southwestern Ontario throughout the year to attend meetings and/or conduct outreach.

Qualifications and Experience
- Be a committed Christian;
- Provide a clear vulnerable sector police check;
- Possess a valid driver’s license;
- At least two years of demonstrated leadership in an employment or volunteer setting;
- Experience working with youth;
- Experience managing a team in a professional or volunteer setting an asset;
- With limited oversight, has the ability to run camp operations smoothly during the camping season and throughout the year. This includes training for staff and volunteers, managing camp finances, consultation and oversight of committees, developing and implementing policies, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, providing mentorship, overseeing physical maintenance of the camp property, marketing and promotions, providing regular updates to the Board, outreach and engagement activities, negotiating and entering into contracts for services, and future planning. Note Camp Hermosa has a fully dedicated treasurer on the Board of Directors to support the financial management of the organization
- Experience planning and coordinating events;
- Experience delivering presentations and information in a clear, accessible, and articulate manner to large groups;
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to adapt communication styles for different audiences and venues;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with a range of stakeholders;
- Ability to work within a team and independently, delegating and shifting priorities as required;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, as well as e-mail, social media, and the internet.
- Possess a valid drivers’ license and access to a vehicle or having the ability to travel across Ontario as required;
- General understanding of legislation applicable to Camp Hermosa, including but not limited to local by-laws, health and safety laws, and environmental protection;
- Develop and collaborate on activities and programs with the Board of Directors that promote Camp Hermosa and assist with outreach and fundraising;
- Manage communications via media relations, social media, program website, newsletters, etc; and
- Report to the Board of Directors and receive mentorship and guidance from the Board as required.
