About the role

We’re looking to hire a Casualty Claims Representative at an Intermediate level to help get our customers back on track, so they can focus on what matters to them most.

As a Claims Representative for our Casualty team, you will be responsible for investigating and settling less complex insurance claims to ensure a prompt and fair settlement. You will provide quality service and ensure prompt and equitable settlement of claims in line with Corporate policies and standards. Your natural ability to negotiate, influence, prioritize, be proactive and think creatively on your feet will help you thrive in our collaborative and energetic culture.

What you’ll do here:

  • Investigate insurance claims and work towards a prompt and fair settlement; develop action plans for conducting investigations including arranging for independent medical examinations, securing prior medical and/or employment history, determine contacts, interviews and/or other information to clarify and justify the claim.
  • Document and analyze the information gathered on a file, interpret insurance policy wordings, determine coverage, and assess damage and/or liability
  • Collaborate with our legal team to attend court proceedings, mediations, and settlement meetings when necessary
  • Collaborate with your peers and other teams to resolve files thoroughly and quickly
  • Be a go-to source for queries relating to investigations and the claims process
  • Build relationships with vendors and communicate often with claims departments and liaise with adjusters, experts, management, and other claims representatives on technical and administrative issues
  • Be heard and contribute to the improvement of day-to-day work in our Claims Centre of Excellence

What you bring to the table:

  • 3-5 years of experience in handling claims, preferably experienced in Casualty Claims
  • A natural at communication, analysis, and negotiation
  • Known for your impressive documentation and organization skills
  • Pursuing your Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
  • Knowledge of appropriate provincial legislation is an asset
  • A college diploma or a university degree is a strong asset
  • Bilingualism is considered a definite asset
