The Misiway Milopemahtesewin Community Health Centre, located in Timmins, Ontario, is established to provide quality programs and services that honour, respect and support Aboriginal culture, values and healing practices, complimented by western approaches to primary health care. Misiway Milopemahtesewin Diabetes Education Program provides a comprehensive and coordinated approach to Diabetes Care which includes support of traditional lifestyle practices. Misiway health care staff have created and maintained a network of community partnerships and relationships with Aboriginal and urban organizations.

The Opportunity:

Job Title: Dietitian Salary Range: $58,000-75,500

Bring your proven clinical experience in Diabetes education and care to a challenging and rewarding role in our Diabetes Education Program. As our Dietitian you will work as part of an interprofessional team to provide comprehensive nutrition assessments, diet counselling, evaluation of progress and recommendations for ongoing care specific to Diabetes Management for patients with or those identified at risk to develop Diabetes. Interventions will also include preventative measures to minimize health complications that can arise from Diabetes. Your knowledge or willingness to learn about the Aboriginal culture will assist you to deliver high quality, culturally, competent care.

As a successful candidate your qualifications will include:

· Registered Dietitian in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. Must have personal liability and protection insurance

· Certified Diabetes Educator or achievement of certification within a designated time frame

· Well-developed clinical skills that include knowledge on traditional diets, demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and willingness to adopt Indigenous approaches to care is required

· Minimum 2 years' experience in a Clinic or Primary Care setting including Diabetes Education

· Experience working with Aboriginal clients and organizations is an asset

· Excellent communication and problem solving capabilities

· Computer knowledge and proficiency with the ability to learn new technology

· Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to meet program needs when required

· Must have a valid Ontario Driver's license
