The Director, Business Development will focus on the pursuit of opportunities consistent with citizen services market segment focus of the Business Unit and Serco overall. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in managed services, solutions and/or business process outsourcing as well as proven success in developing new business within Ontario Provincial government and the Canadian federal government. Experience in government-to-citizen service delivery will be considered an asset. The candidate must have the ability to lead the pursuit of major bid activities, be a team player who knows how integrate with and leverage the synergy among business development, operations, capture management, and proposal functions.

Purpose of the Job:
The Director, Business Development – Canada (Business Unit) will focus on driving revenue and trading profit growth in various new business areas and will play a crucial role in supporting and providing input into the overall business development strategy for the Canadian Business Unit. This position will be an integral member of the Canadian Business Development Team reporting directly to the Vice President, Business Development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leading pursuit efforts from a sales practices perspective, including win strategy and win themes, and be ‘the voice of the customer’.
- Customer research and cultivation of client-side support, competitive intelligence and, as required, partner and supplier management.
- Working with VP, Business Development – Canada and Canada Business Unit Leadership to identify and qualify new sales opportunities consistent with overall market segment strategies.
- Work with Capture and Operations Leadership to assign the right team for pursuits and proposals.
- Manage to the overall pursuit and capture budgets.
- Timely and accurate revenue forecasting and reporting the status of all active opportunities through corporate systems and in regular Business Development team calls and meetings.
- Leveraging knowledge of the Ontario Provincial market and citizen services sectors to build and extend Serco relationships and promote Serco capabilities and value proposition.
- Perform due diligence and analysis on business development / new venture opportunities, including preparation of reports and forecasts.
- Travel as required.
- Other related duties relevant to this position as may be required.
Essential Skills and Capabilities:
- 10+ years of experience in business development in complex selling cycles.
- Experience in managed services, solutions and/or BPO preferred.
- Experience in bid and proposal activities, with transferrable experience in project/capture/proposal management.
- Strong business development background of proven success and established relationships in the Ontario Provincial government and within the Canadian Citizen Services sector.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the leadership team and act as an enabler of key projects and initiatives.
- Proven experience in developing and successfully executing sales/acquisition strategies for medium and large contracts ($25M - $500M).
- Experience delivering the full life cycle of business development activities, including market analysis, accounts planning, account management, opportunity identification and qualification, overall pipeline management, and the development and execution of win strategies.
- Successful legacy of meeting goals for consecutive years.
- Experience developing and maintaining strategic business plans, account plans (Opportunity Management Plans), marketing plans and budgets, and developing and measuring performance objectives.
- Must have excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and highly effective interpersonal skills to carry out daily interactions with technical leaders, business executives, customers, teammates/partners and subcontractors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration.
- Flexibility for occasional travel within Canada and the US.
- Data driven decision making mentality, sound business judgment through highly developed analytical thinking.
- Bilingual (French/English) an asset.
