The Role: Director of Community Programs
The Director of Community Programs is responsible for the development, implementation, contractual oversight, evaluation, strategic, and operational priorities of all programs held under VCF. Currently, these include BC Living Wage Campaign for Families, BC Rent Bank, Reaching Home, and Surrey Homelessness and Housing Society and Fund. Additionally, you will provide oversight of all sponsored relationships where VCF provides a level of financial and/or operational resources to registered non-profits seeking charitable status. These currently include the Ethos Lab, Exchange Inner City, and Single Mothers Alliance BC.
Within this role you will work closely with each program team to optimize project management resources to meet respective deliverables and achieve maximum impact. You will look for and coordinate common threads for collaboration between programs, deliver innovative community-centered services and resources, model reciprocal learning and aim for systemic change that addresses root causes of inequality. As a member of the senior leadership team, you will help set the organization’s community impact goals, and provide guidance for VCF’s strategic priorities. You will work with the Communications and Advocacy team to deliver project related communications to target audiences creating community connections in the ways that they can access and understand.

A typical day would involve any combination of:
- Develop and maintain management systems and processes to monitor and report on all program activities in alignment with VCF core strategies
- Coordinate and optimize project management resources so that funded programs meet agreed upon deliverables and achieve maximum impact
- Seek opportunities to solicit or leverage additional resources and build valuable collaborative relationships to enable VCF to deliver on its strategic objectives
- Develop and manage a highly engaged diverse and capable team to execute departmental plans/strategies and build great relationships with partners
- Monitor and maintain relationships with key program partners so that expectations are balanced against commitments, community impact is maximized and relationships are optimized
- Support the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of staff within each program
- Monitor community trends, needs and issues as well as legislative, policy and regulatory activity at all levels of government that may affect each program’s inputs and outputs
- Oversee budgetary expectations and demands, and contractual agreements
- Continuously look to mitigate bias in processes of adjudication and delivery in accordance with VCF’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
- Provide leadership, as part of a team, on crisis communications and organizational reputational issues

- An excellent communicator – you use your written, spoken & interpersonal, intercultural skills to communicate potentially complex material effectively to your target audiences.
You Have:
- Extensive experience that demonstrates your ability to connect with diverse networks (i.e., IBPOC communities, levels of government, Indigenous groups and political leaders, media, governance, staff, partners)
- Experience people leading and project managing within community program administration at increasing levels of responsibility
- Experience and exposure to working within a non-profit environment
- Exceptional time management, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability for research and data analysis
- Aspiration to work within an anti-oppressive and anti-racist organization and have demonstrated experience applying REDI principles

The Team: In this role, you will be reporting into the CEO
Work Location: This competitively rewarded role will enjoy remote working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from your Greater Vancouver based home office and in or with communities that we serve. For this reason, we are looking for someone autonomous, takes initiative, centres relationship building and takes ownership of their role.
Salary: Starting at $121,000 (flexible based on experience)
