What we’re looking for
Kobo thrives on data driven experiences and decision making; the Director of Data Science and Analytics is responsible for generating value from Kobo’s ever-growing store of customer, catalog, and 3rd party data.
Kobo is looking for a strong leader to manage a dynamic team of developers, analysts, and data scientists to drive personalized experiences for the millions of customers using our website, apps, and e-ink reading devices, to bring statistical rigor to decision makers in the company, and to further our mission.
In this role, you’ll be working closely with leaders in our marketing, product, and technology organizations to evolve our personalization and segmentation strategies, and to ensure they have flexible and powerful access to business intelligence data to lead their organizations.
What you get to do
- Lead the Big Data team under the Product, Technology & Research vertical
- Own the delivery and quality of Kobo’s data driven Recommendation and CRM platforms
- Plan, manage, and communicate ongoing roadmaps for initiatives, experiments, and key projects
- Build the team to be the center of excellence in the company for all data insights and analytics
The Skillset:
- 5+ years of experience managing technical delivery
- 5+ years of experience in the data science, business intelligence space
- Experience working with customer data platforms, event driven systems, machine learning & feature engineering pipelines
- Comfortable writing & review code written in SQL, Java, Python, R
- Working understanding of big data systems such as Hive, Hadoop, Storm
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and managing a team
- Able to manage long-term roadmap and prioritize competing efforts.
- Able to communicate just as well with technical engineers and non-technical stakeholders
