What you will do

You will be part of the manufacturing engineering department at Silent-Aire, focusing on electrical design and detailing for construction drawing production.

How you will do it

  • Analyze, design, and produce layouts to create construction details that meet performance objectives and adhere to a high standard of form, fit, function, appearance, and quality.

  • Ensure part details are correct for the electrical technology used.

  • Develop product and part designs that work with production capabilities to ensure designs are completed in such a way that they can be fabricated.

  • Develop computer-generated 3D models for parts and assemblies and prepare fabrication drawings with dimensions and tolerances using Autodesk Inventor based upon unit layouts provided by the mechanical design team.

  • Evaluate completed construction packages and approve designs/drawings.

  • Ensure the designs and drawings are in accordance with established standards and procedures.

  • Create and coordinate drawing revisions with the document coordinator ensuring accuracy and clarity of the change and effect on various departments.

  • Ensure proper drawings, quantities, and Bill of Materials (BOM) are being passed to Document Control for issuing to production.

  • Working knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and industry practices with demonstrated ability to select and place products within industrial equipment conforming to the customer’s application and jurisdiction

  • Collaboration and coordination with production team for feedback/improvement opportunities of electrical design through change management procedures.

What we look for

Required:

  • Electrical Engineering Technologist degree or similar training/experience

  • 2+ years of experience supporting industrial equipment products and assemblies in a fast-paced environment

  • 2+ years of work experience in 3D environment – including some proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and/or AutoCAD

  • The ability to self-manage assigned technical activities including prioritization of work and rapid response to critical issues

  • Familiarity with Canadian Electric Code (CEC) or National Electrical Code (NEC) Compliant Design Solution standards

  • Ability to develop accurate manufacturing specs in a timely manner under tight deadlines

  • Excellent planning and organizational skill

  • High level of personal integrity and a strong work ethic

Preferred:

  • Experience in HVAC or industrial equipment design applications

  • A good understanding of basic manufacturing concepts (specifically related to electrical)
