Crestline Coach Ltd. is seeking an Electrical Engineering Designer to add to our team.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Create and maintain accurate, feasible/robust electrical designs/drawings/schematics/harnesses
- Manage the development of standard electrical system components, subsystems and wire harnesses to reduce electrical design library of electrical system solutions while reducing electrical design lead time
- Program embedded systems to control vehicle functions
- Guide and review the work of CAD/CAM Designers, Electrical Designers and offshore design partners as they create the detailed models and production drawings.
- Conduct peer reviews of designs completed by other Electrical Designers
- Deliver complete, accurate and robust Bill of Materials
- Apply engineering analysis where appropriate to mitigate the risk of a design failing
- Review contracts for clarity and complete and accurate content
- Quote time required to fulfill designs
- Solicit product feedback during the manufacturing cycle and after release to improve product design and manufacturability on future units
- Contribute to effective Production/Design/Sales meetings
- Actively participate in Continuous Improvement processes
Technical Skills/Competencies (technical knowledge, education and experience):
- Post-Secondary education - University Degree in Engineering or Diploma or Certificate from an accredited educational institution. A degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred, though other Engineering degrees, diplomas or technical certificates with appropriate experience will be considered.
- Three or more years’ experience in electrical or technical solution sourcing including analog and digital electrical design, embedded software programming and electronic systems integration is an asset
- Knowledge of 12VDC and 120/240VAC electrical systems
- Knowledge of electrical design for heat dissipation
- Experience in electrical load analysis and cost/benefit analysis
- Practical experience in cable and harness fabrication, component installation and testing
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturing and value engineering
- Knowledge of integration electrical and mechanical design
- Experience and creativity needed to contribute to improving internal processes
- Automotive and/or specialty vehicle power electronics, digital and analog monitoring and control system experience is a valued asset
- Knowledge of vehicle CAN bus systems is an asset
- Graphical user interface design is an asset
- Electrical schematic drafting with ECAD tools (ie. Zuken E3, Auto Cad Electrical, AutoCAD) is an asset
- Electrical wire and cable drafting with 2D & 3D ECAD tools like Zuken E3, Inventor Cable and Harness is an asset
- Understanding of accepted drafting principles is an asset
- Multiplex programming by code or graphical representation is an asset.
- Experience in an engineering environment that integrated with a PDM or PLM system is an asset
- A working knowledge of relevant legislation and test standards (CMVSS, FMVSS, CAAS, Canadian Electrical Code, etc.) and how they affect ambulance design is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of applications
- Experience in a Lean Manufacturing is an asset
- Software system integration electrical and mechanical is an asset
