Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Biodiversity, Reclamation & Closure, the Environmental Coordinator, Reclamation & Closure is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination and execution of reclamation and mine closure projects at Highland Valley Copper. This role engages with multiple departments across the operation related to reclamation and closure planning projects, including the implementation of progressive and final closure.

Responsibilities


  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical, administrative, and project management support for closure-related work, including schedule, budget, scope changes, and document control. Support internal team members to adhere to key timelines and deliverables.
  • Assist with the management and execution of the work of multi-disciplinary consulting teams related to closure and related budget, scope management, schedule, and reporting, including the preparation of management plans, requests for proposals, proposal review processes, and developing detailed scopes of work for execution.
  • Support and participate in technical execution of closure-related work, including attendance at meetings, project presentations, and workshops.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support management of reclamation and closure-related field programs.
  • Compile, review and analyze reclamation and closure-related data and produce progress reports.
  • Coordinate internal reviews and internal responses to comments from regulators, Indigenous groups, and other external communities of interest.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned or required.

Qualifications


  • Engineering or Science degree or diploma in mining, natural resources or environmental-related field.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in mining, resource development, industrial operations, environmental management, environmental assessment, or regulatory field.
  • Experience with reclamation projects, closure planning, project management, budgeting and invoicing or demonstrated similar work.
  • Prior experience with mine reclamation security costing models is considered a significant asset.
  • Strong organizational (including time management), interpersonal and communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and productively as a team member and with external communities of interest including regulatory agencies and Indigenous groups.
  • Ability to organize priorities based on deadlines and strong attention to detail.
  • Technical knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and effective industry practices is an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous groups and managing contractors is an asset.
