ABOUT THE ROLE
The Facilities Lead ensures safe and efficient operations within the Facilities department while providing excellent customer service to TransAlta employees and tenants. Accountable for overseeing the day-to-day activities of a team of three at Calgary head office, the Supervisor establishes priorities and goals for the upcoming year and guides the team towards them. This role is also accountable to deliver all facilities aspects that relate to the project to design, construction, and move into our new Head Office building scheduled for Q2, 2023 completion.
This is a temporary role, based out of our Head Office in Downtown Calgary.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

Assist in new office building set-up and move from a facilities perspective, including but not limited to: clean-up and move assistance, building decommission, creating and executing facilities resourcing plan for the new building.

Manage all aspects of facilities operations including building maintenance contracts, building maintenance operators, mail, freight services, and loading dock

Ensure contract obligations for all building maintenance services are in place and being fulfilled (HVAC, elevators, janitorial, snow removal/landscaping, waste management, etc.)

Accountable to ensure adherence to TransAlta safety procedures in all actions including contractor safety, PPE use, employee training, and COVID protocols

Prepare and manage Operating and Capital budgets for Facilities at Calgary head office, including approval of unbudgeted required maintenance (building repairs as needed)

Full and timely building decommission and handover to landlord prior to move-out and identifying key risks leading up to move-out day

Ability to negotiate tenant leases, assignments, and addendums and ensure the contract obligations are met in the most cost-effective manner

Accountable to liaise with landlord at Calgary head office and Boulder, Colorado office to ensure compliance with our head lease

Liaise with Calgary head office subtenants and manage tenant requests and concerns

Review with legal department on any matter that presents risk to TransAlta (such as tenant lease adjustments, building handover, and various landlord requests)

Seek and capture opportunities for improved efficiency (time and money) wherever possible and coach the team to practice the same
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following must-have qualifications and experience:

Relevant Facilities or Business degree or diploma (Business Administration, Certified Facility Manager, Supply Chain, etc.)

Minimum 3+ years of leadership experience

Demonstrated managerial leadership skills

Ability to effectively represent TransAlta in customer and partner engagements
