About This Opportunity

In this role, you will be directly involved with accurately creating and/or posting manufacturing and planning-related journal entries to ensure timely and accurate financial statements. You will also be responsible for developing account reconciliations and standard reporting required to support weekly analysis of financial performance. You will play a key role in the preparation, analysis and presentation of the annual budget.

Responsibilities

  • Journal entry and financial statement preparation and explanations
  • Perform month-end closing activities for production plants
  • Annual budgeting of production operating expenses (labour, overhead, absorption, etc.) inclusive of budget template creation, analysis, and presentations to senior management working with plant managers and other stakeholders
  • Review P&L (vs budget, vs PY, vs Forecast, vs standards)
  • Conduct management review of P&L results
  • Review sub-ledger activity (i.e. production orders, inventory variances)
  • Collaborate with plant management for results and forecast creation
  • Preparation and analysis of balance sheet account reconciliations reporting any discrepancies and assisting in resolutions
  • Quarterly / Annual Reporting / Governmental Surveys / Ad-hoc Manufacturing Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare and analyze weekly & monthly forecasting of operating expenses with analysis of what is changing and why; identification of risks & opportunities
  • Adhere to accounting procedures (IFRS)

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • One to three years’ experience in accounting, costing or financial analysis
  • Proven understanding of inventory accounting and related movements
  • Demonstrated understanding of absorption costing
  • Clear communication, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products; knowledge of advanced Excel functionality is a must and knowledge of Access is an asset
  • CPA is an asset
  • Experience in using SAP & Anaplan software is an asset
  • Ability to travel between North York and Toronto offices
