An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Gas Plant Operator located at our Judy Creek Gas Plant. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years experience and will be responsible for ensuring reliability of the facility’s production capabilities by operating and monitoring critical plant equipment while adhering to and enforcing company safety policies and procedures. The candidate will also assist and coordinate with maintenance personnel in the planning, management and scheduling of projects and shutdowns.

Responsibilities:

• Control Room Operations including starting/stopping equipment, directing and requesting work, troubleshooting, emergency response plan management, etc.
• Safe operation and general maintenance of Sour Gas Compressors, Oil Battery Facilities, Amine Sweetening, Refrigeration, Sulphur Recovery, and related pressure equipment
• Ability to prioritize workload and manage contractors
• Reporting of any hazards, near misses or incidents
• Identify maintenance and/or process needs with the Lead Operator; assist in the development of preventative maintenance plans, procedures, and schedules; coordinate and provide input on repairs and facility upgrades
• Perform day-to-day production and operations related activities in the facility as well as identifying optimization and efficiency opportunities to increase safety and production and/or reduce downtime
• Production reporting (SCADA, PVR)
• Compliance with company safety and environmental regulatory requirements

Qualifications:

• 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate and / or completion of Gas Process Operations Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution required
• A minimum of 5 years gas plant operating experience
• Preference will be given to those with prior work experience in a facility with condensate stabilization, treaters, amine sweetening, dehydration, NGL fractionation, compression, fired heaters and product storage
• Prior operating experience in a gas processing facility an asset (Gas Plant/Compressor station)
• Current H2S Alive, WHMIS, T.D.G, and First Aid
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving abstract
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with Avocet an asset
• Preference will be given to those candidates that reside in the Whitecourt/Swan Hills area

Expectations:

• Complete training for the Judy Creek Gas Conservation Plant and South Swan Hills Gas Gathering in a timely fashion
• Adhere to Alberta Energy, and Alberta Boilers Safety Association, Regulations, as directed in the Corporate Governance manuals
• Participate in Corporate Health and safety program
• Work overtime shifts as needed for vacation coverage
• Work rotating 12-hour Shifts, 7 on 7 off (including night shifts)
• Housekeeping, keep everything clean (office/facility/field/compressor station)
