JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
intensive on the job training and is designed to translate your knowledge into practical experience.
This is a two (2) year on-the-job training program where the successful candidate will:
- Be trained to perform a variety of technical, administrative and planning functions related to the
acceptance inspections, construction and monitoring.
- Perform a variety of technical, administrative, and planning functions related to maintenance of
- Coordinate and/or performs activities involved in the tendering and inspection of transmission
- Provide technical input, assesses, coordinates and administers a variety of special programs
- Prepare tenders and administers maintenance contracts, including drafting specifications and
inspecting, approving progress payments and preparing end of job reports.
- Liaise, communicate and make applications, as required, with governmental agencies and
environmental standards.
- Establish and maintain a variety of records such as specifications, drawings, design data,
parts inventory records, equipment catalogue files, reference material and technical literature.
- Assist the manager by preparing operating budgets by assessing costs of planned projects and
reports. Utilizes computer programs to create and update reports on inventory, maintenance
scheduling and expenditures.
- Provide technical advice, guidance and direction to IBEW and contractors' crews engaged in

- Coordinate and plan a variety of field construction activities including the assembly of detailed

- Must qualify for membership in the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British
- Must hold valid Driver’s License (Regular, full license [BC’s Class 5]).

FUTURE
You will be exposed to challenging assignments and be trained to the highest standards. These
experiences will lead you into a Transmission Maintenance Technologist position at the end of
your training period.
LOCATION
Please note the headquarters of this role is at the Lower Mainland Transmission (LMT)
headquarters in Surrey or the Transmission Cable headquarters in Burnaby.

ROTATIONS
Transmission Maintenance GTTs will undergo at least one mandatory rotation during their two-
year training program. Rotation locations are based on business needs and can be in any part of
the province of BC. A typical candidate can expect rotations to include offices in the North or
Southern Interior, Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Transmission headquarters are in
Surrey, Burnaby, Nanaimo, Vernon, Kamloops, Cranbrook, Terrace, Prince George and Dawson
Creek.
ORIENTATION TRAINING
The anticipated start date for this position is June 2023, with an approximately 2-3 weeks
Orientation at the Trades Training Centre in Surrey.

Flexible work model role definitions

Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home
based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for
each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time
from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.
IBEW/Field – No option to work from home
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
