What we are looking for

Reporting to the VP, Horticulture Development & Innovation and working closely with the operations and quality assurance teams, the Head Grower will be responsible for ensuring that growing operations at their designated faming location are running as expected and are delivering on production goals in expected timeframes. The Head Grower will ensure key metrics are reported, problems are solved, and product quality is maintained as specified in product specifications. The Head Grower will be responsible for maintaining and improving accuracy and precision of horticultural processes. This role will ensure we continue to deliver a high-quality product to our consumers.

Roles & Responsibilities

Main Functions:

• Report on Key performance indicators from the designated farming location.

• Develop and execute plan for maintaining crop quality.

• Coordinate operational processes with local Farm manager and local QA manager (ex when and how cleaning of specific systems occur).

• Develop local support network (suppliers, provincial extension specialists or similar individuals)

• Troubleshoot and solve local horticultural issues.

• Develop localized on boarding program for horticultural staff (junior growers) and staff in general.

• With assistance from QA departments, create adaptation plan for specifications and growing processes for new products.

• Maintain horticultural processes at farm (including change documentation).

• Lead local root cause analyses of horticultural issues.

• Stay current with new developments in the industry and feasibility of implementation.

Other Functions:

• Participate in marketing related activities as needed.

• Participate in on-farm inputs traceability program.

Qualifications & Educational Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Agronomy, Plant Science or Horticulture is a minimum requirement

• 3+ years' experience in a commercial fruit and vegetable agricultural operations.

• 1+ years' experience with hydroponic systems.

• 1+ years' experience with controlled environment agriculture operations.

• 1+ year experience with agricultural lighting.

• Must be able to travel

• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

• Experience with report writing and MS suite of applications
