The Wireless Networks West team is passionate about ensuring our TELUS customers have access to our world class wireless network. We take great pride in building cutting edge wireless networks in innovative ways. The Wireless Networks West team manages all wireless construction in Alberta and BC including macro, in-building, small cell & upgrade wireless deployments. This team is engaged, energetic, creative & high performing.

What you’ll do

• End-to-end responsibility for the construction of wireless sites and any other implementation activity
• Great understanding on the process for site acquisition, engineering, and wireless site construction
• Strong ability to read and comprehend engineered site drawings and antennas/cabling schematics
• Responsible for assisting and directing sub-contractors on site, and making construction/civil related decisions
• Collaborate with planning, engineering, procurement, build, and operations primes to prioritize and schedule project deliverables
• Lead regular meetings with stakeholders on resolving implementation issues and variances, and develop action plans to manage changes or issues on sites
• Regular reporting and communication on wireless deployment status
• Tender and award work packages to external contractors to meet project schedules
• Clear understanding of tender and award process, including preparation of tender documents, review and award of tender, periodic review
• Manage and monitor external build contractor performance
• Site inspection as required to ensure scope, quality and schedule of work adhere to TELUS standards. Ability to drive to sites outside of urban areas
• Effectively manage change requests on projects
• Manage risk within program and escalate issues where appropriate

Qualifications

What you bring

• Have an Engineering degree or equivalent experience in the wireless building industry
• Minimum 5 years of experience building wireless macro sites
• Expert at managing multiple, complex technical construction sites to completion on time, budget & scope
• Respected in the wireless construction industry for adhering to the highest in safety regulations
• Adept at managing external vendor contracts & relationships
• Composed & poised when interacting with external partners, landlords & regulatory bodies

Great-to-haves

• Post graduate degree (Master on Engineering or Business)
• PMP certification
• 10 years of experience in building wireless networks
• Experience with SAP
