About the Opportunity
You will be assisting the Engineering Manager in the expansion and development of an existing pallet racking inspection program for our clients. You will be involved in several aspects of the program’s evolution including the execution of field inspections and data collection and will be responsible for creating and maintaining related documentation including; drawings, calculations, client reports, internal reports, and permit submissions.
You will correspond directly with our clients, manufactures, and other business partners, working individually and as a part of a project team. You will develop a knowledge of industry design standards and applicable codes relating to steel structures.
Education: Bachelor of Engineering in Civil/Structural
Responsibilities:
- The execution of field inspections and data collection.
- The creation and management of all related documentation, drawings, calculations, client reports and internal reports.
- Manage workflow and control costs to ensure profitability.
- Create Material Take off or Bill of Materials for completed inspections.
- Assist in the development of a database system to capture, record and report inspection data.
- Structural engineering analysis and design of storage racking structure.
- Provide detailed engineering design and construction support services
- Provide input into or prepare cost estimates, schedules, material specifications.
- Communicate and interface regularly with client’s engineering, maintenance, and construction personnel as well as vendors and contractors. Willingness to travel to client offices and field facilities is required.
Qualifications:
- EIT / Licensed professional in good standing and/or eligible for licensure with APEGA.
- 3 to 5 years of engineering design / field experience.
- Working knowledge of regulatory bodies and various code (NBC - 2019 Alberta Edition, NBC and CSA)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with team members and external clients.
- Analysis and design of various structure foundation would be an asset
- Strong understanding of scope, time, risk, and quality management
- Able to work and contribute individually and as part of a team, being a self-starter
- Proficient with MS Office Suite.
- Work experience with AutoCAD and structural engineering analysis software such as RISA and MathCAD.
- Experience preparing and reviewing key engineering drawings.
- Field experience and construction method will be as asset.
- Ability to perform effectively as an individual or in a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
