Main Location: lngonish Beach, Nova Scotia, Canada

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of carpenters.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble andjoin materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub flooring and erect walls and roofsystems.
• Fitand installwindows, doors, stairs, mouldingsand hardware.
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures.
• Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities.
• Requisition materialsandsupplies.
• Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity.
• Train orarrangefortrainingofworkers.
• Recommend personnel actions such as hiringsand promotions.
• Ensure standards for safe workingconditions are observed.
• May also supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of related apprentices, helpers and labourers.

Minimum Requirements:

• Registered carpenter Apprenticeship certificate or equivalent experience.
• 5+yearsof relevantexperience.
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information system (WHMIS) certificate.
• Good English communication skills.
• Abilityto supervise 5-10 people.
• Client-focusedteam player.
• Abilityto useyourown bestjudgement.
• Mustbereliable.
• Effective interpersonal skills.

Assets:

• CarpenterRed seal certification.

Working Conditions:

• Must have your own tools, steel-toed safety boots, hard hat, and safetyglasses/goggles.
