We are currently recruiting for a Logistics Chargehand to join our team in Calgary.
The primary purpose of the Logistics Chargehand is to:
- Provide leadership within the Logistics Team and support the overall safe Materials and Logistics Operations
- Be accountable to the Materials & Logistics Manager for the distribution of materials and assignment of work throughout entire warehouse.
- Lead and provide direction to logistics personnel and oversee the quality and quantity of work performed by them.
- Assist in the safety, supervision, training, organization, scheduling, coordination, inspection, and continuous improvement of all logistics activities performed by assigned personnel.
- Ensure these activities are accomplished in accordance with the policies and procedures defined in Viking’s Quality Management System and/or by external governing bodies.
- Complete any other assignments as assigned by the Materials and Logistics Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Logistics Support:
- First point of contact for all logistics requests, manage the logistics emails.
- Maintain the integrity of logistics data (issuing, picking, shipping etc.) in Viking’s ERP system.
- Ensure work performed by logistics personnel are adhering to corresponding work instructions.
- Assign and schedule work as directed by Materials and Logistics Manager and in accordance with Viking’s policies and procedures.
- Manage the AOG phone schedule to ensure afterhours AOG coverage.
- Provide afterhours backup support (company phone provided) for the AOG on call team.
- Support MOS with material functions ensuring continuous improvement
- Ensure all packing lists are processed accordingly by end of day and are properly forwarded to Document Control
- Provide OJT technical training to logistics team as required on an ongoing basis and provide reports to Manager as required
- Participate and lead logistics sections of weekly CSPS Boardwalk Meeting
- Ensure logistics supplies are stocked weekly, provide bi-weekly supply list to Manager if VMI process is not in place
- Ensure logistics area and tools are maintained in a clean and safe condition (5S)
- Ensure Logistics metrics are maintained & recorded at the end of each day. (Rotables, issuing, shipping, orders in review status). Escalate any risks to manager.
- Lead and participate in bi-weekly all staff meeting
- Represent Company as Co-Chair on Joint Health and Safety Committee
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum Grade 12 education
- Certified Forklift Operator
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment
- Certified Forklift Operator
- Minimum 2 years experience with international shipping
- Dangerous Goods handling experience
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
