Maintenance Manager

Maintenance Manager, will be responsible for planning, directing, the maintenance and repair of the fleet operation (tractors and the trailers) owned by Day & Ross Inc. The Maintenance Manager, will also be responsible for controlling all cost’s associated with the national maintenance and repair of the fleet operations.
How You’ll Help
- Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all vehicles and equipment owned/leased by Day & Ross.
- Utilizes a preventive maintenance program to assure cost effective maintenance and a scheduled maintenance program for the fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Monitors use of fleet vehicles and equipment, analyzing utilization and capitalization of vehicles and equipment.
- Ensures that all safety practices and policies are enforced and ensures that employees receive appropriate safety training.
- With developed leadership skills, establishes performance requirements and personal development targets for assigned staff, regularly monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and recommends compensation based on performance.
- Works with necessary stakeholders and teams members to develop the Maintenance Annual Budget, which includes a review of past year expenses, and the projected expenses for the current fiscal year.
- Ensures that repair reports are accurate for each vehicle or equipment repaired.
- Ensures that programs exist to verify work quality, and completeness
- Maintains knowledge of current industry vehicle and equipment trends and associated maintenance concepts.
Your Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of secondary education, with preference of post-secondary education in a trailer technician or mechanical repair program.
- Training and/or certification in refrigeration an asset.
- A suitable combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- At least 10 years of trucking fleet operations, maintenance and repair in the transportation or logistics industry
- Communication skills – must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Computer skills – accuracy, MS products, Truck Mate, web based programs.
- Conflict resolution abilities – ability to resolve conflict and differences between employees and with other departments.
- Able to work deadlines in high transactional, high speed environment.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work as required.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements in a shop environment and ability to uphold a strong safety culture.
- Occasional travel maybe required.
- Busy office environment with extensive computer work and handling of documentation
- Shop environment, with vehicles and heavy equipment
- May be required to visit other locations, including offices, terminals, maintenance shops, etc.
- Extended periods sitting working on a computer and on a phone
- Moderate physical work, parts and supplies handling for shop
