This is a critical role within the division responsible for informing our human resources management and labour relations (HRMLR) strategy, leading the HR advisory services team, evolving our processes and developing programs that enhance the level of HR services provided to the City and our employees.
The incumbent will work in conjunction with the Manager of Safety as well as the Manager of HR Operations to implement and maintain our HR systems, and continue to focus on implementing and managing our HR Dashboard using Power BI, to inform our HR strategy and key decisions. The incumbent will also be responsible to ensure that our HR policies, procedures and processes meet the ongoing changes in legislation, or new acts being implemented.
This position also acts as team lead for both the City’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Social Squad and Employee Wellness Collectives. As part of this role, the HR Manager will mentor and support our Collective Chairs to become seasoned facilitators and action orientated change agents.
We are looking for a self-motivated and seasoned HR generalist who has experience leading a team. Someone who takes their work seriously but not themselves, contributing to a lighthearted team environment. As the Manager, you will have a proven record of establishing strong, credible relationships throughout all levels of the organization by leading and promoting innovative, dynamic solutions to people-related matters. You will work in collaboration with department managers, employees and union representatives to provide operational, tactical and strategic HR support to the various departments across the City.
As an experienced HRMLR professional will have a BBA in human resources or public administration complemented by a minimum of 5 -7 years’ experience in progressive HR generalist roles, and experience leading a HR team within a unionized environment. A CPHR designation and municipal experience is considered an asset.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of HCM/HRIS Systems, such as Njoyn, SAP and PowerBI is required.
