We are currently seeking a Maintenance, Construction & Turnaround Director for our Manufacturing West (MW) facility. As a member of the Manufacturing West Leadership Team, the Director, Maintenance, Construction & Turnaround (MCAT) will play an integral role in driving safe, reliable, and competitive operations of our high-quality plastic products for our Manufacturing West assets. This role will be accountable for the efficient and effective delivery of all NOVA and Contractor executed work across Manufacturing West. Working with other functional areas the key accountabilities of this role will include: Setting the direction and providing Leadership for the MCAT function Construction Management of Sustaining Capital Projects with an annual value >$100MM Planning and Execution of all Turnaround and Major Maintenance work for the region potentially exceeding >$100MM in value annually Manage annual operating budgets $ >175MM Planning and Execution of all Corrective, Preventive Maintenance Programs Adherence to appropriate Engineering Standards in Responsible Care®, Maintenance Work Management, Turnaround and Construction Leading Regional Strategic initiatives

You Will Use Your Expertise To: Execute necessary strategies and tactics in Manufacturing for the Maintenance, Construction & Turnaround (MCAT) function with an emphasis on execution safety​ Cost effective and efficient delivery of Maintenance Work Management (MWM), Turnaround (TA) and Construction processes and outcomes​ Develop a highly skilled, empowered and leveraged workforce in Maintenance, TA, Construction, and support functions (Planning, Scheduling and Performance) ​ Provide Leadership in Continuous Improvement to drive execution productivity in Maintenance ​ Develop the gap closure plans for Turnaround and Construction to Top Quartile Performance Effective and efficient use of execution resources across Manufacturing West Ensure all aspects of the Contractor Responsible Care® Management Plan are managed with contractors Achieve targeted results in Responsible Care® through people leadership, system/process development and effective implementation techniques Provide mentorship/coaching/leadership of a multi-discipline team in support of plant objectives while achieving maintenance excellence Manufacturing reporting and variance analysis​ Report progress on accountability areas via key performance indicators and overall program trends in alignment with World Class Reliability (WCR) standards Actively leads Cause-Centered Learning to drive continuous improvement of business results Ensure the operationalization of NOVA’s Nature and the development of the necessary culture to support​

What We Are Looking For:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 20 years of related experience and expertise in the areas of Reliability, Maintenance and Turnarounds:
Must have formal leadership experience and training within Manufacturing with a demonstrated track record to achieve results, ability to drive step change improvement and influence others
Post graduate education such as a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Professional Engineer (P. Eng/PE) license is an asset
Demonstrated dedication to NOVA Chemicals’ Responsible Care® commitments and personal safety leadership
Strong business acumen and commercial mindset
Demonstrated excellence in change management, people leadership and communication that fosters accountability, ownership, and motivation of staff

Location Information:
The NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site is located in Central Alberta, near Red Deer (Alberta’s third largest city). The Joffre Site is recognized as the largest combined ethylene/polyethylene manufacturing site in North America, and one of the largest in the world. Focus at the site is placed on operations excellence, plant availability and effective capital execution. Attention is also placed on the integration of technology while implementing and optimizing. The Joffre site provides a wealth of recreational and social opportunities in the surrounding areas, as well as various educational options for children through advanced learning.

Relocation will be considered for this position
Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
This role requires up to 15-20% travel
The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
