Job Summary

Belterra Saskatoon is looking for a General Foreman to join its Mechanical Services team. We’re looking for a hard-working, detail-oriented, and highly motivated individual to take on this leadership role and ensure the smooth running of the shop.

Main Responsibilities:

• Display leadership in regard to the prevention of safety incidents and ensure that all actions are taken to on the job specific requirements
• Conduct prompt and thorough investigations of all incidents/accidents and near misses
• Immediately report all serious incidents to immediate manager and corporate health and safety department in a timely manner
• Assist in creating Scope of Work for shop and field jobs
• Ensure job Scope of Work is followed as reasonably as achievable
• Review and approve subordinates time sheets
• Conduct toolbox talks/kickoff meetings onsite with workers
• Delegate tasks as required to workers based on individuals capabilities
• Approve FLHA prior to workers conducting work duties
• Compile documentation for job turnover and invoicing
• Maintain compliance with, customer and/or governing bodies, rules and regulations
• Perform site job scopes for pre task execution or sales support
• Perform quoting and estimating duties as required
• Maintain job budget as closely as possible with reasonable cause
• Procure tools and materials as required
• Conduct employee evaluations with fair and just intentions
• Discipline and reprimand employees as required
• Protect the well being of all people working with or for Belterra
• Share health and safety knowledge and experience with all subordinates
• Encourage by example and be available to workers and managers
• Give direction and mentor new workers to help them work safely and productively

Education & Certification Required:

• Grade 12
• Trade Certificate or Mechanical Engineering Certificate
• Post-secondary certificate in Welding and/or Millwright trades
• ICCS Leadership training certificate
• Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) or equivalent
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License

Experience:

• 5 years in a material handling environment
• 5 years in a trade environment
• 3 years+ supervisory or leadership experience

Skills:

• Microsoft Office
• Mechanical Drawing Comprehension
• Fabrication and Welding Drawing Comprehension
• Proficient in English, both verbal and written
• Efficient in time management
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Knowledge in mechanical and welding aspects
• Understand material handling principles
