Museum Assistant Job at New Tecumseth
The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for a student to join our Museum on the Boyne team from May to August.

This position assists the Supervisor, Culture with all aspects of museum services including tours, exhibit design, and working with the collection. They also provide support with museum events and programs when necessary.
Responsibilities:
Take a lead role in greeting the public and running interpretive tours.
Assist with researching, designing and mounting exhibits on local history.
Assist with collections management including condition reporting, artifact research and data entry.
Respond to telephone and in-person enquiries about the museum.
Assist with educational programs when required.
Assist staff at special events such as Canada Day.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Some college/university in Museum Studies or related field required.
Ability to submit a clean Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.
Requires Emergency First Aid with CPR-C.
Customer service experience required. Previous experience in a museum setting an asset.
Knowledge and/or experience with research and/or artifacts an asset.
Superior communication and organizational skills required.
Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines.
The successful candidate must have the ability to align with established goals and objectives and is able to create/follow plans and processes accordingly to deliver task and goal completion to a high standard. Salary: $15.81 - $16.67, plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan
Hours: 35 hours per week, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday
Dates: May 23 – August 27, 2023
