Apocalypse Studios was founded in 2018 to change the way people experience games. The Studio is led by industry veterans with over 90 years of collective game industry experience and having worked on acclaimed titles such as Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Warframe, and the Batman: Arkham series games. We are looking for a talented Narrative Designer and creative writer to help create the living, breathing world of Malorum in Deadhaus Sonata. If you are passionate about Writing and work well with others, we want to hear from you!

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Collaborate with the Creative Director and other narrative designers to develop and evolve the game's themes, lore, etc., to define the overall game story and unified vision.
  • Meet and collaborate with the design team to brainstorm ideas and write supporting material, helping to set the stage and fuel the creative process for artists, world builders, designers, etc.
  • Provide feedback and updates to the team as the story and lore evolves and is updated.
  • Research science, history, locations, and events to develop the game’s narrative vision and underlying themes.
  • Support the lore in developing content (plot, setting, characters, barks, dialogue, events, lore, item descriptions, tutorials, etc.)
  • Collaborative across the teams to ensure consistency and strong, compelling themes for gameplay.
  • Work with voice actors and external partners to help guide voice recording as required to support the game and community-building activities.
  • Help with any marketing and public relations projects, and assist with localization needs.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Possess exemplary oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Meticulously organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • A degree in Creative Writing, Literature, Film, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of Grimdark Fantasy.
  • Strong ability to adapt based on feedback.
  • Extremely innovative and creative.
  • An outstanding communicator, detail-oriented, and efficient problem solver.
  • 5 years of narrative design or writing experience in AA/AAA games.
  • Highly effective time management; ability to prioritize and maintain your work schedule working on tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates an ability to work well in a group or self-directed as necessary.
  • Passion for games and good knowledge of the games industry.
  • Provide resume and portfolio of published narrative work.

NICE-TO-HAVE:

  • Design experience in web, tablet and mobile environments.
  • Experience using Unity Game Engine.
  • Have a passion, curiosity, and deep knowledge of games and game development.
  • Strong desire to learn and work with new technologies and techniques.
