Position Overview:

Reporting to the General Manager, as the Piling Foreman, you are fully competent in the profession and you will assume a leadership role by providing guidance to all site staff/ crew members. You will be responsible for the smooth functioning of day-to-day operations. Your responsibilities will include safety, quality control, developing and implementing agreed upon field project plans and schedule, delegation of work to field staff, ensuring that projects are completed safely and on time. You are required to be a problem solver and have the ability to continuously look for innovative solutions and efficiencies that can be utilized on all projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that projects are laid out according to approved plans, specifications and that efficiency in labour and materials meet quality and industry standards.
  • Ensure that pile log books are filled out accordingly.
  • Oversee project schedule and ensure that it coincides with projected timelines.
  • Ensure that site safety measures meet or exceed the parameters set out by Trottier Pilings safety manual, client safety program, Workers’ Compensation Board and any other authorities.
  • Review, maintain and update the construction schedule and ensure milestones and completion dates are met
  • Oversee the care and maintenance of company equipment on the project to maximize use while on the job site
  • Fill out and submit proper rental form documents.
  • Inform General Manager of any issues that would be out of the Piling Foreman’s scope of work.
  • Other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

  • Minimum 10 years construction experience in the piling industry, or related fields.
  • Experience with precast concrete piles, steel driven piles, concrete cast-in-place piles, sheet piles, CFA piles, and multiple shoring methods.
  • Experience working on large scale industrial, commercial, residential and infrastructure projects.
  • Solid understanding of modern construction practices, on all scales, small and large projects.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly concisely and in appropriate manner.
  • Ability to plan and manage daily tasks in order to successfully complete a project in a timely manner.
  • Understanding of construction documents and the ability to ensure that they are complete.
  • Must have a strong safety record and the ability to work with a variety of individuals.
  • Willingness to actively share experience and ideas with team, promote growth to all members of the team.
  • Capable of identifying straightforward problems with the ability to generate possible solutions and assessing those solutions against standard procedures or guidelines.
