We are looking for a full-time Program Ambassador for a new program that is launching on October 24, 2022. The Program Ambassador will support Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses, communities, and enterprising not-for-profits by support and resources to the local community.

The goal is to ensure that owners and managers can effectively and efficiently access the Taking Care of Business (TaCoBiz) suite of services and programs. This work will be done in person and remotely and will be in a part-time contractual basis for up to six months.

The responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Initiate first contact with clients/businesses in communities that have been impacted due to disasters. Be able to explain the program criteria.
  • Identify the clients' willingness to proceed with assistance from the Taking Care of Business suite of services and arrange meetings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with professionals and business support agencies for the purpose of generating referrals.
  • Where applicable, group sessions on Zoom can be planned. One-on-one sessions can be launched from these public meetings.
  • Interview clients to determine their current situation. With their agreement, complete an engagement survey.
  • Identify the immediate and future needs of the client. Supply the client with all current support contacts available.
  • Provide an orientation of the business support programs.
  • Verify business locations for other services offered by TaCoBiz
  • Where required, assist in completing online or manual form applications that apply.
  • Maintain accurate records including copies of completed questionnaires and tracking notes on each client.
  • Utilize the TaCoBiz portal to update notes and review client activities that others have input
  • Support workshop coordinator with moderating workshops as needed
  • Arrange future meetings with clients where required. Note: Clients who have chosen to complete applications themselves will require follow-up in a timely manner to ensure that their progress has been documented and to identify issues which may arise preventing the client from completing their applications.
  • Compile statistical information for analysis and documentation.
  • Identify appropriate clients for success stories/testimonials and gather relevant information.
  • Plan networking events to promote the program
  • Mandatory weekly team meetings with Lead Program Ambassador are currently scheduled for Tuesday mornings at 10 am

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

The Program Ambassador position is a diverse multi-faceted position that requires a wide range of skills.

Accordingly, Community Futures does not expect that applicants will necessarily possess all the qualifications and experience that define our "ideal applicant". Our focus in hiring will be to identify candidates with a strong mix of education and/or experience along with the attitudes and aptitudes that will support the development of an excellent Program Ambassador.

The ideal applicant will have certification and/or experience in the following areas:

  • Familiar with Community Futures program
  • Previous sales or marketing roles with a focus on business development
  • Previous experience making cold calls
  • Previous role working in the hospitality industry

Required personal skills include:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and virtual meeting platforms
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to function well in a small team environment
  • Positive and opportunity-focused
  • Results-oriented self-starter
