City of Flin Flon Recreation Director - Vacancy

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Recreation Director is an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team overseeing the City’s Recreation department, which includes the operation of major facilities, such as the Whitney Forum Ice Rink Complex and Community Hall. The Manager will also oversee community parks and green spaces, Tourist Bureau and Campground, a remote recreational camp and the operation of sports programs, special events and fundraising. The Recreation Director will be responsible for spearheading the development of new recreation infrastructure, making budget recommendations, identifying alternative courses of action, and leading staff on daily tasks in the provision of sport, recreation, arts and cultural services.

Ideally possessing extensive service delivery and operations experience, the successful candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to develop integral and effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, community leaders, and external partners. Customer-service oriented, the incumbent will welcome the challenge of seeking continuous improvements in organizational efficiency while creating a culture of partnership that results in the maximum utilization of recreation and cultural assets.

The successful candidate will possess a degree or have done post graduate studies in Recreation, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, supplemented by a number of years of demonstrated progressive experience with recent senior level management experience in a recreation role, preferably in a municipal setting, or an equivalent combination of education, and experience.
