Job Summary
Dalhousie Financial Services strives to provide the highest quality financial services and information and ensure the effective stewardship of University assets to the benefit of students and scholarly activities. Financial Services is a core service unit of the University, providing services in areas of financial accounting, budgeting, procurement and risk management, cash management, and financial systems and policies. Reporting to the
Manager, Accounts Payable with daily direction from the Team Lead, Reimbursements, Accounts Payable, the Reimbursement Clerk provides support the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare manual cheque requests for processing; identifying claims requiring Vendor Maintenance and redirecting as required.
  • Perform policy compliance testing on various expense claims and report on findings to departments and faculties; maintain thorough understanding of university’s policies.
  • Monitoring inbox and responding to inquiries or redirect to appropriate team.
  • Collaborating with Reimbursements Team on process improvements.
  • Provide backup to Team Lead in preparation of weekly sample data; manage various weekly reports; review daily reports for exceptions; assists with special projects and provide coverage for Reimbursement Team as required.

Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • Accounting/Office Administration program and approximately three years’ related work experience in an Accounts Payable or Audit environment (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Ability to prioritize and meet demands in a high volume, deadline-driven environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, and excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, with especially strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Assets
  • Experience with integrated administrative systems (e.g., Banner) or in an expense management software.
