Position Overview:

L&B Communications is seeking Customer-facing installation and repair technicians in Nanaimo and Courtenay to support ongoing TELUS Smart Home Security, IPTV, Internet and home phone services in customer’s home.

This is a field technician position requiring safe drilling, working at heights, pulling wire and fiber runs and drops, and the installation of modems, hubs, smart home and security equipment, and IPTV equipment within customer homes.

Contractor positions also available.

All employees and contractors are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of hire.

Responsibilities:

• Drive to and from Work locations
• Interact with customers in a professional and polite manner
• Order, maintain, and organize equipment stock in work vehicle
• Maintain a clean personal appearance and vehicle
• Schedule and facilitate basic vehicle maintenance (ie. Oil changes, Tires)
• Complete paperwork and follow up with in-progress work in real time
• Comfortable with using hand tools
• Working at heights up to 30’
• Operate equipment, vehicle, tools, and ladders in a safe and responsible manner

Requirements:

• Prior experience in telecommunications and/or working in the field independently is an asset
• Prior experience in a customer-facing customer service role is an asset
• A strong technical aptitude and interest in the field
• Must be comfortable with computers, and able to handle various Windows-based applications
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
• Successfully complete a criminal background check
• Maintain a valid BC Class 5 driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract
• work outdoors in changing weather conditions
• technically inclined and have a desire to learn
• Self-motivated and highly organized to manage workloads with minimal direction
• Wear appropriate safety equipment and follows outlined safety protocols and procedures

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $18.00-$28.00 per hour
