Job Opportunity:
We are looking for a Sales Manager to create an inspiring and supportive team environment by setting goals, fostering collaboration, managing resources and processes to execute strategic direction and corporate goals of the Ownership.
What you’ll do:
Strategic planning
- Develop and execute the company’s business strategies attain the goals of Ownership through analysis of SQPD (Safety, Quality, Performance and Delivery)
- Provide strategic advice to Ownership
- Prepare and implement business plans to facilitate corporate goals and business direction
- Support corporate growth and profitability
- Support of Innovative Group of Companies as required
- Monitor and identify industry trends and business opportunities
- Forecast long-term resources to support Owner’s vision
- Evaluate the effectiveness of skills, processes, and technology; drive and implement Continuous Improvement and update Department policies and procedures as required
- Implement strategies with Group Leaders/team members to mitigate process level risk
- Champion 5s in all areas of department, lead by example, actively participate in 5s events
- Conduct 5s audits to sustain improvements
- Support the ongoing development and operation of new business units
Operations Management
- Tracking and reporting of key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Evaluate and plan overall resource levels to meet current and projected Sales and business activity levels
- Ensure company ISO policies, procedures and legal guidelines are communicated to all members of the Department and followed at all times
- Ensure company EUPs are accurate and updated by the Group Leaders/team members
- Analyze problematic situations and recommend and implement solutions
- Implement strategies for meeting or exceeding Innovative Automation quality objectives with Group Leaders/team members
- Generate procedures for running department in different economic circumstances (current, crisis, etc.)
- Occasional travel globally as required
Leadership and People Management
- Appoint competent Group Leaders
- Work with all other department managers to achieve Ownerships vision
- Actively participate in management planning discussions
- Foster relationship with team members through informal daily interaction
- Review potential hires with Group Leader in conjunction with Human Resources
- Participate in the hiring process (interviewing, background check, job description development etc.) as required in conjunction with Human Resources
- Consult with Ownership about future candidates
- Conduct annual and semi-annual reviews of direct reports
- Create training plans for direct reports
- In collaboration with Group Leaders, establish personalized and departmental training plans
- Identify developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills
- Review and submit annual increases for all members of the Department to Ownership
- Review annual and semi-annual reviews from Group Leader and participate in reviews as required
- Administer discipline to Team Members as required with Group Leader and Human Resources
- Approve and monitor vacation requests of direct reports in a timely manner
- Vacation approvals and scheduling as required
- Communicate appointed delegate for Manager for vacation coverage
Relationship Management
- Develop relationships with prospective customers and suppliers while maintaining a positive relationship with existing customers and suppliers
Department Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Achieve profitable sales target
- Sales target will increase annually and communicated via the business plan.
- Maintain relationships with customers providing multi-million dollar project awards.
- Maintain relationships with client direct contacts, management and executive.
- Maintain relationships with client Sales, Engineering, Purchasing and Accounts Receivable
- Develop new customers and automation markets.
- Prepare technical presentations in support of quoted concepts for customer technical review.
- Multi night travel and travel to customers and potential customers within Canada.
- Multi night travel and travel to customers and potential customers outside of Canada.Total staff salary budget to equal % of sales (Example: 1.5% Sales, applications and marketing)
- Total overhead budget for sales equals % of Sales (Example: 0.5% Tradeshow, marketing software, and expenses)
- Work with CI and ERP teams to continuously improve Sales Team interaction with ERP system to increase efficiency, improve accuracy of quotes and improve resource loading estimates.
- Work with sales team to maintain up to date sales forecast and generate and implement strategies for closing opportunities
- Work with management team to ensure forecasted projects are incorporated into department loading analysis and communicated across management team
- Maintain website upgrades and content creation
- Develop a collaborative team between Project Managers, Sales and Design to ensure everyone has a clear vision and goals for the project.
- Review output, from concept to sale, to ensure delegated duties are performed as per client specifications, RFQ and in keeping with IA Standards
- Direct and manage Opportunity Risk Assessment activity within the department
- Develop and maintain partnership with key major purchase item suppliers.
- Work with Design and Project Management Teams to improve technical hand-off of information at project launch and design kick-off.
- Observe and leverage industry trends using Product/Process/Customer methodology to leverage new opportunities across all three
- Look for and execute marketing opportunities including website improvements, trade shows and other
- Actively monitor accuracy of and communicate Sales Forecast for the purpose of capacity planning and report back to team capacity plans and opportunities to maximise capacity.
What you’ll need:
- Minimum Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Communications, Engineering or Equivalent Specialized Experience
- Minimum 10 years selling custom automated assembly and test equipment
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts
- Proficient with ERP softwares and CRM systems
- Preference given to candidates with current sales experience selling automated systems in one or more of the following segments: Automotive, Medical Devices, Electric Vehicle, or Electronic Modules/Assemblies
