JOB DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

General

Arbutus Ridge Seaside Community is currently seeking full time, part time and casual Security Guards. We are a community of 640 privately owned homes with 1100 residents, nestled along the ocean side in the Cowichan Valley. The team provides friendly service to residents and visitors, regularly patrols the community in a marked security vehicle, and ensures that guests, contractors, and deliveries are properly directed. Guards are on duty 24/7/365 providing year round peace of mind to residents and guests. This is a unionized position.

Job Requirements

Valid BC Security License
Valid BC Drivers License
Standard First Aid for Industry OFA 1 or Equivalent

Daily Tasks – Guard House

- Arrive at least 5 minutes prior to shift start to review the pass on log and shift briefing
- Notify Security Manager and General Manager of any incidents that require follow up
- Check and review e-mail for any information regarding move in/move out’s scheduled
- Ensure Guardhouse is tidy and garbage / recycling is properly disposed of
- Ensure Guardhouse supplies are stocked and available – notify manager for needed items
- Greet residents and guests as they enter
- Validate guests from the visitors log, issue passcard and site map if needed
- Answer phone calls from residents, and respond accordingly
- Ensure paperwork is filed and recorded as necessary
- Ensure familiarity with the SMOP and Strata Bylaws
- Monitor the CCTV system – report any immediate hazards to management or Police
- Complete any additional tasks as assigned by management

Daily Tasks – Vehicle

- Walk around security vehicle, note any damages, noticeable repairs, and refuel if needed
- Ensure vehicle paperwork to be filed is placed in the appropriate folder
- If working with a partner, ensure vehicle patrols are conducted at least once every 3 hours
- Patrol route should be driven randomly, not in the same pattern
- Note Bylaw infractions while on patrol, and respond to Bylaw complaints if received, note in log book and inform management
- Conduct random radio checks to ensure full site coverage

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 12 hour shift
• Day shift
• Night shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Cobble Hill, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
