Barber Collins security is looking for a full-time security guard who is interested in working 12 hour days shifts. Barber-Collins is looking for someone who is reliable, dependable, and flexible. Candidate must have comfortability working heavily with the public.

Preference will be given to those who have education in Protection, Security and Investigations, Police Foundations, or an education similar. First aid certification is required. Use of force training is preferred.

Shifts*:

*Must be able to work the mandatory 2-week rotation.

Must be able to commit to the assigned schedule consisting of:

• Be available to work 12 hour shifts days.
• Must be available weekdays/weeknights, weekends and statutory holidays.
• Must be extremely flexible and available.

Responsibilities:

• Protect company’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
• Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences.
• Monitor and control access at building entrances.
• Watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment.
• Access control for the facility/area.
• Ensuring that the facility’s safety and emergency procedures are followed in response to site emergencies.
• Demonstrating judgement, common sense, and decision-making ability, particularly when required to take charge and direct others in emergencies or other incidents.
• Utilize appropriately and accordingly any training protocols provided.
• Communicate accordingly and appropriately with marginalized individuals.
• Interact regularly with the public with importance on good customer service and public relations.
• Maintain composure and safety in a potential high-pressured situation where de-escalation could be instant.
• Conduct regular screening protocols before entering the facility.
• Verify that any visitors, contractors, guests etc. are fully vaccinated.
• Ensure all persons entering the facility are adhering to government mandates.
• Report in detail any suspicious incidents
• Monitor and control access at building entrances.
• Conducting regular foot patrols of the facility.
• Training and following direction and guidance from Site Supervisor.
• Monitoring all persons entering the facility

Skills:

• Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position.
• Trained Security Guard with a diploma in a related field.
• Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment.
• Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols.
• Surveillance skills and detail orientation.
• Integrity and professionalism.
• Ability to operate security equipment/systems computers, radios, phones.
• Meticulous record-keeping, report writing, observation skills.
