Role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in a fast paced, team-oriented environment? Would you like to take your analytical and collaboration skills to the next level? The Data, Information and Privacy Services Division in Service Alberta is responsible for the province-wide administration of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP Act). In addition, the division delivers the FOIP program for all Government of Alberta departments, and some of their agencies, boards and commissions.



Reporting to the FOIP Coordinator, in one of the FOIP Units, you will work as a member of a team delivering access to information and protection of privacy services in accordance with applicable legislation, policies, and processes to enable compliance with the FOIP Act. Responsibilities include processing FOIP requests, supporting the FOIP Coordinator in responding to Reviews, Inquiries, and Investigations by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner, providing expert advice and recommendations on privacy and access matters. You will consult with clients internally and externally, coordinate cross government matters, identify and resolve issues, and so much more!



Your success in this position is based on your ability to build trusted relationships, combined with your experience in access and privacy legislation and an understanding of government operations, programs and services. Your success is also built on well-developed research and analytical skills, strong attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills. Proficient organizational and time management skills are required to work independently and in a team setting. The ability to build strong relationships with clients and peers and to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities within tight timelines is essential.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a university degree in Business, Public Administration, Law or a related field plus a minimum of (4) four years of directly related experience in applying legislation, FOIP, or Access and Privacy issues. See below for equivalencies.

The following are considered assets:

  • Experience in information access and/or information privacy specific roles
  • Experience with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act and/or graduation from the Information Access and Protection of Privacy (IAPP) certificate program from the University of Alberta
  • Experience in facilitating training and/or participation in work groups and/or committees

Salary

$2,803.40$2,683.10 - $3,507.06 bi-weekly ($70,028 - $91,534 per year)
