Location: Headquartered in Ottawa, this position is eligible for a remote-work arrangement within
Canada.
What can I expect to do in this role?
Under the direction and supervision of the Manager, Information Technology Architecture and
Projects, the ServiceNow Developer will be responsible for creating and managing technical solutions within the Institute's ServiceNow system. This includes, but is not restricted to, scripting, automations, data structuring, and API integrations.
Major responsibilities include;
- Analyze, plan, design and develop ServiceNow solutions, translating business requirements into scalable, flexible and secure integrations, software, and data structures.
- Develop, maintain, update, test and support the ServiceNow systems and all associated infrastructure, including recommending and implementing new technologies.
- Identify and implement the best third party integrations and plugins for ServiceNow.
- Work closely with the business analyst to identify pain points among users and propose and develop solutions to address them.
- Work with the data architect to define custom data structures within ServiceNow.
- Work with the software architect to integrate the PIPSC data pipeline with ServiceNow.
- Apply industry best technology development and content practices and methodologies, operational practices and procedures (i.e. continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline, code review and versioning, performance and load testing, development life cycle).
- Provide senior level support and subject matter expertise for complex problems.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on software issues and respond to inquiries in a timely fashion.
- Participate in cyber security and information security assessments including intrusion prevention and platform vulnerabilities and implement solutions.
- Documentation, training and knowledge sharing.
- Assess third party integrations with ServiceNow for technological soundness, security, and programmatic integration and make recommendations regarding adoption.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and new software system features.
- Collaborate with other technology team members to ensure and application functionality, performance and feature optimization.
- Work with the business analyst to implement future ServiceNow projects with other teams.
- Prepare project plans to present technical ideas and establish timelines.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams assigned to special projects and work collaboratively with employees in other sections.
How do I qualify?
We are looking for a highly skilled candidate with these qualifications:
- Four-year university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
- Six (6) to Eight (8) years’ experience in software development, with particular emphasis on
ServiceNow.
- ServiceNow developer certification is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of the ServiceNow platform, including data structures, security roles, automation, scripting, and system configuration.
- Advanced knowledge of the JavaScript programming language.
- Extensive experience working in an Agile environment.
- Experience with Git versioning systems and Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
- Experience working with REST and GraphQL Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
- Experience creating unit tests, linting, and documenting code.
- Ability to troubleshoot software and identify edge cases.
- Self-motivated and takes initiative to get tasks completed and issues resolved in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of TypeScript and Angular an asset.
- Self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities.
