MIRARCO, is a university-based mining research center that has been creating novel solutions to the challenges facing the mining industry for over 20 years. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team in developing a new generation of software products. You will be responsible for designing and implementing new features, writing unit tests, and refactoring existing code. The Software Engineer will be a member of the Software Group and will report directly to the Director of Software.

Job Description:
This person will be responsible for supporting the efforts of the Software Group including:

• Primary technical responsibilities include the development of the MoFrac software tool and incorporate and refine functions within the software following feedback from the team’s tool validation/enhancement efforts
• Collect and document user’s requirements
• Plan, design, develop, document and maintain software applications
• Implement processes to ensure reliability and efficiency of code
• Design and maintain software architecture for large applications
• Act as a resource for projects undertaken in cooperation with other groups within the organization and industry partners

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree in computer science
• Proficiency in C++
• Knowledge in the following programming languages: Python, SQL
• Experience with the following frameworks/libraries: MPI, Qt, VTK
• 5 years of work experience in computer science field is preferred
• Having experience in the mining industry can be an asset
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Proven attention to detail
• Proven time-management, organization/prioritization skills to meet deadlines
• Critical thinking and problem solver * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Self-motivated and committed to continuous learning
