MIRARCO, is a university-based mining research center that has been creating novel solutions to the challenges facing the mining industry for over 20 years. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team in developing a new generation of software products. You will be responsible for designing and implementing new features, writing unit tests, and refactoring existing code. The Software Engineer will be a member of the Software Group and will report directly to the Director of Software.
Job Description:
This person will be responsible for supporting the efforts of the Software Group including:
- Primary technical responsibilities include the development of the MoFrac software tool and incorporate and refine functions within the software following feedback from the team’s tool validation/enhancement efforts
- Collect and document user’s requirements
- Plan, design, develop, document and maintain software applications
- Implement processes to ensure reliability and efficiency of code
- Design and maintain software architecture for large applications
- Act as a resource for projects undertaken in cooperation with other groups within the organization and industry partners
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in computer science
- Proficiency in C++
- Knowledge in the following programming languages: Python, SQL
- Experience with the following frameworks/libraries: MPI, Qt, VTK
- 5 years of work experience in computer science field is preferred
- Having experience in the mining industry can be an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Proven attention to detail
- Proven time-management, organization/prioritization skills to meet deadlines
- Critical thinking and problem solver * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated and committed to continuous learning
