Department Overview

The Software Engineering practice has overall accountability for the design, development, and testing of technical solutions while ensuring that they adhere to engineering and architectural design principles.
Roles in this job family are focused on the creation of comprehensive end-to-end technical solutions, and support projects, platforms, and technical asset operational hygiene.

Software Engineers are expected to:
  • Provide technical expertise with a focus on efficiency, reliability, scalability, and security
  • Plan, evaluate, recommend, design, operationalize and support solutions in compliance with enterprise and industry standards.
  • Strategy – technology strategy, roadmap and product catalog ownership, governance and communication

Engineers are expected to be subject matter experts in system / application administration, installation, configuration / provisioning, platform planning and design, integration and release / deployment management.

Job Description

EMPLOYEE / TEAM

  • Perform activities developing components of solutions with a focus on analytics, support, testing, and proof of concepts aligned to business and technology objectives.

  • Provide a broad range of system solutions development to business problems through the development and programming of applications / systems. May also provide research, installation, maintenance, configuration, administration and/or provisioning of systems/applications.

  • Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest

  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to software engineering activities

  • Ensure respective programs/ policies/practices are well managed,meets business needs, complies with internal and external requirements, and aligns with business priorities

  • Collaboratively engage with relevant stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external, to shift from finding defects to proactively preventing defects

  • Actively seek and support continuous improvement and automation opportunities within the engineering practice

  • Conduct meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs/ policies/ practices

  • Identify opportunities to minimize cost, provide recommendations and/or deliver corresponding strategic solutions to support cost effectiveness and to enhance stakeholder experience

  • Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to quality, standards compliance, reusability and ease of maintenance, Operational Readiness Reviews, and supporting gating and review sign-offs for solution design

  • Monitor service, productivity and assess efficiency levels within own function and implement continuous process / performance improvements where opportunities exists

  • Lead / facilitate and/or implement actions / remediation plans to address performance / risk /governance issues

  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk activities as necessary

  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts

  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite


Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • University or Graduate / post graduate degree in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline; or equivalent practical experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in field of specialization (pending job level review)


TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of android development experience (java/kotlin)

  • 3+ years of kotlin, kotlin coroutines experience

  • Familiarity on HILT or experience on Dagger

  • Experience on MVVM architecture pattern and knowledge on MVP and MVC

  • Strong knowledge of object oriented design

  • Experience with REST service preferably usage using Retrofit2

  • Experience on android databinding

  • Experience on development tools like gradle, android studio

  • Experience on writing strong unit tests
