Store Clerk/Cashier Job at Costco Canada Liquor
Description of position:
Stocks, straightens and cleans Liquor Store. Sells merchandise, assists customers, checks purchaser age and rings up orders.
Daily tasks and responsibilities:
- Follows merchandising standards and practices. Aligns product, collects and returns stray items, stocks to maintain high product levels. Rotates merchandise. Checks for accurate signage. Creates computer generated product signs.
- Receives orders and verifies product and counts against freight bill.
- Uses box knife to cut boxes for display/accessibility of product and to cut twine or shrink-wrap from pallet.
- Stocks opened cases on shelves. Moves and positions pallets of merchandise using manual or electric pallet jack. Stacks product from partial pallets onto full pallets.
- Communicates with Liquor Store Manager to determine merchandising plan and priorities.
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service. Answers phones, directs customers to product, and assists with product information.
- Counts register at sign on, makes drops of excess funds and counts register at shift end to maintain accurate register funds.
- Checks photo identification to verify legal purchase age for anyone appearing to be 25 years old or younger.
- Rings up orders. Receives payment, makes change, processes credit and debit charges. Processes refunds with proper approval.
- Participates in tasting and product seminars to increase product knowledge.
- Cleans liquor store by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping, and dusting. Stocks supplies and empties trash.
- Performs required workplace inspection/ audit.
Non-Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Assists in other areas of the Liquor Store as necessary.

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates must possess):
- Education/Training:
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Training as required by Provincial law.
- Licenses/Certifications:
Age and certification as required by Provincial law. Successfully complete the Provincial Liquor Intervention Program.
- Experience: None.
- Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of fine wines and spirits preferred.
- Other: Forklift and EPJ Certifcation
