PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
CP is looking for a Summer Intern position at our head office in Calgary, AB. This position will support our Track Systems and Capital Planning organizations by performing data analysis, generating reports and indices and leveraging new technology to drive improved decision making.. We will expose applicants to various engineering field experiences to learn various aspects of the railway business. You will be part of an engineering team that operates and monitors the track recording devices and other instruments involved in collecting comprehensive track measurements, safety and performance data then leverages that data to make informed decisions on infrastructure maintenance and renewal.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Amalgamate and format large quantities of data into meaningful data sets for analysis.
- Use computerized systems and interfaces; data transport preparation and archiving;
- Extensive use of information technologies in all aspects of the work.
- Undertake analysis and processing of data sets to produce metrics, indices and summary reports that enable efficient and informed decisions.
- Identify and suggest opportunities for continual improvement in data management and processing in conjunction with the Engineering team.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled in Computer Science or Data Science/Analytics Program, Engineering Discipline in Civil Engineering may also be considered;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong leadership and technical skills;
- Must have valid driver’s license;
- Some travel within Western Canada may be occasionally required.
