The roles fall within the Documentation team of the User Experience (UX) team.

The UX Team, composed of 4 teams, includes: Experience Design, Example Content, Documentation, and Analytics. This role reports into the Documentation team yet partners across the UX team, product engineering, communications, and some studio teams.

There are over 400 people on the overall team and it is continuing to grow. The immediate focus is on instructional documentation and onboarding learning resources for non-technical, content creators. Content creators are game studio artists in fields such as animation, cinematics, audio, and level design. Features and tools are in all states of development and new features and workflows release continually. The Tech Writer provides first draft content, editorial support, and restructuring guidance to align with the organization’s style guide standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide editorial support to subject matter experts, partner contributors, and UX teammates
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to learn about engine features and write documentation for content creators
  • Actively participate in improving and maintaining existing documentation
  • Collaborate across teams (video, interactive demos, in-application help, etc.) in creating training materials
  • Employ a diplomatic approach when working across content communities to address users’ concerns, evangelize documentation, and provide guidance on documentation best practices
  • Take ownership of assigned content areas and their ongoing development
  • Familiarize themselves with internal processes and work towards reaching individual and team milestones
  • Enforce industry and team style guidelines for Documentation team content delivery channels such as Confluence sites, World Intranet, UI tooltips, and the company’s learning management system
  • Contribute on enterprise content management practices to build a foundation for future documentation processes
  • Monitor developer communication channels, answer questions, and curate news feeds.
