Telephone Interviewer Bilingual Job at York University

Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager, Data Collection, the Interviewer is responsible for collecting information for various research projects that include population health, education, social service delivery, gender, the environment and voting behaviour.

Education:
High School Diploma.

Experience:
Related experience with telemarketing or other telephone-oriented work will be beneficial.

Skills:
Interviewers must have a friendly, pleasant and professional telephone manner. strong interpersonal skills, including discretion, tact and diplomacy. exceptional verbal and written English and French language skills, a clear and confident speaking voice. the ability to secure and maintain cooperation of respondents contacted by telephone. the ability to build trust with a respondent are also key. care and accuracy in recording responses and other data during the interview. the ability to follow instructions and implement interviewing guidelines. use of judgment in problem recognition and request for supervisor's assistance. ability to maintain confidentiality is important for interviewers working with surveys. an accurate typing speed of at least 30 w.p.m. and some familiarity with computers.

PLEASE NOTE: This position requires bilingualism in English and French.

When working from home, employees are expected to provide a laptop/desktop computer and a headset. Employees working from home will not have equipment provided for them.
