Tenure track position in Media and Communication Studies Job at Redeemer University College
The Position
Redeemer University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Media and Communication Studies beginning July 1, 2023. Candidates must be aligned with and passionate about Redeemer’s Christian mission of integrating faith in teaching and research. Candidates should possess or be near completion of a terminal degree. The ideal candidate will have media production experience, a demonstrated record (or show potential) of excellence in undergraduate teaching, and a demonstrated record of discipline-related research and/or professional activity in the field, appropriate to their career stage.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach courses that serve the Media and Communication Studies Program situated in the Arts Area. We are seeking an individual with an academic and practice background that would equip them to teach courses in these areas:
- introduction to media
- filmmaking production, technology, and aesthetics
- media theory and ethics
- world cinema
- religion and media.
Individuals interested in teaching less than full time are also encouraged to apply, stating their course(s) of interest.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- An ability and desire to teach topics related to media theory and narrative, documentary, and corporate film production.
- An interest in supervising student internships.
- An ability and desire to do research or professional practice in the discipline.
Education, Training & Certifications
- Candidates should possess or be near completion of a terminal degree.
The Application Process
Applicants should submit a letter of application, C.V., evidence of teaching quality, a 1-2-page statement describing their own Christian faith commitment and how it relates to Redeemer’s mission and to their teaching and perspective on the discipline, and the names of three individuals who have agreed to provide letters of reference should the applicant advance to a later stage of the process. The application deadline is October 30, 2022 or until the position is filled.
