Job Summary

Are you a Speech-Language Pathologist who takes accomplishment in having a strong human caring and relationship centered practice? Do you integrate best practice and current research evidence to support practice decisions and actions?

The Speech-Language Pathologist provides family-centered speech & language services to children from birth to school entry and their families. Responsibilities include the provision of a full range of clinical services, community consultation and education, and implementation of a population health approach to improve communication abilities in all context. Services are offered at the office, in families’ homes, at daycares and preschools, and in other community settings.

As a Speech Language Pathologist on our team, you are an integral part of our specialized services for clients with delays and disorders such as; Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome, brain injuries, aphasia, dysarthria, dysphagia or other reasons for assistance with speech and language. You will work with an interdisciplinary team of experts to support your clients in achieving their therapy goals.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology and registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC.
  • Two (2) years recent related experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of local aboriginal communities and their needs an asset.

  • Must have strong critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Must be empathetic, creative and have good judgement;
  • Public speaking/group facilitation experience with children and youth;
  • Values collaboration and builds trusting relationships;
  • Has attention to detail and respects confidentiality;
  • Ability to work independently and build effective interpersonal relationships based on trust with Indigenous children, families and communities;
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability;
  • Proficiency in the use of technology;
  • Recognizes and respects all cultural diversity and has an understanding of Aboriginal culture.

Working Conditions

  • Travel to multiple locations may be required;
  • Hours of work are nonstandard and connected to services and agency’s needs;
  • Receives regular supervision with direction and checks of the work performed.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Record Check;
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver’s Licence class 5 no restrictions;
  • Must provide a vehicle in good operating condition and appropriate insurance to meet program requirements;

Pay Grade

  • Wage Range is $39.82 - $45.45 per hour (Wage is negotiable).
