Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a VMware Virtual Infrastructure Specialist for one of our clients in the National Capital Region.

The following responsibilities are associated with the “Statement Of Work” but are not limited to:

1. The Bank health and safety policies require that all individuals
entering Bank premises or working onsite at the Bank must be
fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with vaccines approved for
use in Canada. The Consultant will be required to provide proof
of vaccination prior to entering Bank premises.

2. The Consultant(s) must have a computer or laptop that meets
the following specifications in order to access Bank systems and
applications remotely as required:
  • Windows 10 with version 20H2 or later or a Windows 11
device
  • Rights to install software required for Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Available USB A port
  • Highspeed internet connection

3. The Consultant(s) must have a smartphone which can support
the Microsoft Authenticator application and appropriate Wi-Fi
or cellular connectivity as it will be required for second factor
verification to gain access to Bank applications.

Services
The Consultant will be responsible for providing the following Services to the Bank:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Automation Tools & Compute Services:
  • Provide expert Operations Management support for virtual infrastructure and IaC automation tools:
VMware vSphere 7.x (VSAN and NSX-T), VMware SRM, EMC RP4VM, VMWare vRealize Orchestration
and Automation, Ansible Tower, and Azure DevOps
  • Configure real-time/continuous health monitoring on supported technologies
  • Resolve incidents and problems related to supported technologies and integrations within SLA
specifications
  • Execute configuration management changes on supported technologies, as necessary
  • Execute standardized request fulfilment within SLA specifications while identifying opportunities to
promote task automation by recommending design and implementing features, while ensuring proper
testing, and maintaining documentation or release notes
  • Apply and maintain adequate cybersecurity controls supported technologies
  • Apply and maintain adequate resiliency controls, including the creation and validation of IT Disaster
Recovery plans
  • Perform technology upgrades/updates/patching ensuring compliance with vendor provided
compatibility matrices, and to maintain required cybersecurity controls
  • Perform capacity management on IT infrastructure
  • Respond to audit requests (i.e.: ad-hoc reporting)
  • Perform supported technology functional testing and health checks during change, incident and other
activities performed by other teams, as required
  • Participate in on-call rotation, as required
  • Other related activities and deliverables, as required

Required Qualifications & Skills
The Consultant should have the following qualifications and skills:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience working with VMware vSphere 7.x (VSAN and
NSX-T), VMware SRM, EMC RP4VM, VMWare vRealize Orchestration and Automation, Ansible Tower,
and Azure DevOps
  • Demonstrated work experience in each of the following:
o A scripting language, such as PowerShell or Python and in creating automation scripts,
deploying orchestration and automation processes and products
o Developing and supporting IAC (Infrastructure as Code) with tools such as Ansible, Terraform,
Azure, etc.
o System administration (priority given for VxRail, VSAN, Dell PowerEdge support)
  • Demonstrated ability to work individually or as part of a team
  • Demonstrated experience with technical decision-making needed to support a 24/7/365, multi-tiered
large-scale production environment
Additional Qualifications
The following will also be considered:
  • ITIL certified
  • TOGAF certified
  • Agile certifications
