Welder/Fabricator Job at Somerville Merchandising Inc.
Reporting to the Metal Shop Manager, the Welder is responsible for the welding of steel, aluminum and stainless steel parts using a MIG and/or TIG process.
Main Duties:
- Conduct safety checks on equipment and daily maintenance in compliance with safety standards
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to determine specific welding requirements
- Set up welding machines based on job requirements
- MIG and TIG weld steel, aluminum and stainless steel components based on specifications
- Create, follow and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications
- De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture
- Identify machine issues that may affect material integrity
- Read work orders and tag or product as required
- Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
- Keep all work areas clean and organized
- Work in compliance with all ISO and OHSA and company standards, following all safety protocols
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
Employment Requirements:
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience operating as a commercial welder
- Certificate or Diploma in welding techniques or technician or equivalent experience
- Experience with MIG and TIG welding
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and material properties
- Ability to read BOM listing and technical drawings
- Proven measurement and mathematical skills including tape measures, angle gauges and calipers
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Understanding of metal and material tolerances
- Capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
