Position Description


Clinical Research Assistant – CanSaRCC
Contract: 2 years with option to extend to the third year
Full - Time

The Canadian Sarcoma Research and Clinical Collaboration (CanSaRCC) is a group of physicians, scientists and other health care providers across Canada who have joined together to form a team to perform clinical and translation research in sarcoma.

Our multidisciplinary research team has developed a web-enabled, prospective clinical database to collect clinical data to better understand soft tissue and bone sarcoma. We have recently extended our initiative to pediatric centers.

As a Research Assistant, you will collaborate with our multidisciplinary research team and be responsible for: i) data entry, validation and quality assurance of a complex disease and treatment pathway; ii) maintenance of a national sarcoma database for the Toronto sites; iii) development of a database manuals/guidelines and educational tools for use by sarcoma sites nationwide and support the CanSaRCC national initiative; iv) patient consent. The work will be In addition, you will attend regular team meetings; participate in group planning of new research initiatives; and complete other tasks as assigned or requested.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an extremely organized, highly motivated and hard-working individual with strong interpersonal, communication and research skills (mainly attention to details) who will enjoy the challenge of working within an interdisciplinary research team. Position level and salary will be commensurate with experience and consistent with our compensation policy. This position is ideal for a committed individual with long term career aspirations in clinical research.


QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
  • Related research experience required (minimum of one (1) year preferred)
(e.g., clinical trials and/or mixed method studies; qualitative and quantitative data collection, entry, & cleaning; database design/set-up/maintenance; etc.). Candidates with no experience can apply as well.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency and experience using data management software (e.g., MS Office, Access, Excel) required
  • Experience with coding is an asset but not mandatory
  • CRA certificate is asset but not mandatory
  • Highly motivated, with an ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Previous experience with cancer-related research and/or with medically ill patients is an asset
  • Ability to work on site and from home
  • Ability to review and read many documents from different resources at the same time.
